Beneath the illustration, “Summer of Tennis in Karuizawa” captures the spirit of long days on the court, matches beneath the trees, and relaxed afternoons around the clubhouse.

The inscription “Since 1894” pays homage to the year the first tennis court was built in Karuizawa, marking the beginning of the town’s long and distinctive relationship with tennis.
