Karuizawa Pickleball Club

We welcome pickleball players visiting Karuizawa whenever space permits. Because KPC sessions can reach capacity, priority is generally given to club members and players who live in or regularly spend time in the Karuizawa.

Visitors should:

1. Contact the club in advance.
2. Receive confirmation before attending.
3. Have previous pickleball experience before joining community play.
4. Follow the same club guidelines as members.
5. Bring clean indoor only athletic shoes for sessions at Kazakoshi Main Arena.

All members and visitors are expected to:

1. Know the game. Understand the basic rules, scoring, and be able to play independently before joining regular sessions.
2. Show good sportsmanship. Respect players of all ages and skill levels and maintain a positive, friendly attitude.
3. Share the courts fairly. Follow court rotations and be considerate of players waiting to play.
4. Respect the community. Treat members, organizers, volunteers, facility staff, and guests with courtesy.
5. Honor reservations. Arrive on time and notify the club as early as possible if you cannot attend.
6. Help when you can. Assist with setup, nets, ball collection, and cleanup. KPC is a community-run club.
7. Respect the facilities. Take care of club equipment, follow venue rules, and wear clean indoor-only shoes at Kazakoshi Main Arena.
8. Represent KPC well. Aggressive, disruptive, disrespectful, or repeatedly unsportsmanlike behavior is not acceptable.

The club reserves the right to restrict participation or review membership when conduct is inconsistent with these guidelines.

We love introducing new players to pickleball.

However, community practice sessions are designed for players who already understand the basic rules, scoring, court positioning, and safety of the game.

First-time pickleball players are therefore required to complete an introductory lesson before joining regular community sessions.

Lesson Options:

Group Beginner Lesson — 60 minutes (Japanese Only)
¥3,000 per person + court fee

Private Lesson — 60 minutes (Japanese Only)
¥6,000 per person + court fee

Private Lesson at exclusive outdoor court— 60 minutes (English Only)
¥10,000 per person

Advance registration is required for all KPC sessions.

• Please do not arrive without a confirmed reservation.
• Because many sessions reach capacity, we ask everyone to register only when they genuinely expect to attend.
• If a session is full, additional requests may be declined even if the person is already a KPC member.

Payment is in Cash Only

• ¥500 — Members who have purchased an EVERYDAY SOCIAL® paddle
• ¥1,000 — Visitors and non-members
  

CANCELLATIONS & NO-SHOWS

• Plans occasionally change and we understand that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable.
• Please notify the club as early as possible if you can no longer attend.
• A ¥500 cancellation fee applies to cancellations made within 24 hours of the session.
• Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may result in temporary restrictions on reservations or removal from the club.
• This policy helps us offer available spaces fairly to other members.

Karuizawa Pickleball Club is a member-based community. As the club has grown, new membership is becoming more selective in order to maintain the quality, character, and community atmosphere of KPC.

BECOMING A MEMBER
Prospective members should:

1. Have a basic understanding of pickleball and be able to participate safely in community play.
2. Attend KPC sessions as a visitor or guest to become familiar with the club and its members.
3. Receive recommendations from at least two existing KPC members.
4. Agree to follow the club's guidelines and community principles.
5. Receive final approval from the club.

Recommendations should come from members who have personally played or interacted with the prospective member and believe they would be a positive addition to the KPC community. Membership is not automatically granted by joining the LINE group or attending a single session. Our goal is to build a club whose members know one another, contribute to the community, and help preserve its culture for future generations.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
KPC is intended to be an active community rather than simply an online membership list. Members are encouraged to participate in club sessions, events, tournaments, social activities, or volunteer activities whenever their schedule allows.

We understand that many members are seasonal residents or visit Karuizawa only during certain periods of the year, so year-round participation is not required. Membership may be reviewed periodically, and inactive LINE accounts may be removed to keep club communications relevant and manageable. Members returning to Karuizawa after an extended absence are always welcome to contact the club.
